Albany Green Energy
Project Overview
Albany Green Energy (AGE), located in Albany, Georgia, utilizes biomass fuel to generate electricity for Georgia Power and steam to two entities: Procter & Gamble; and to Constellation New Energy, which is used to generate electricity for the nearby Marine Corps Logistics Base. The facility commenced commercial operation in July 2017 and was acquired in June 2021 by ReGenerate Energy Holdings LLC, a joint venture between Ember Infrastructure and ReEnergy Biomass Operations LLC. The facility is operated by ReEnergy Biomass Operations.
The 52 MW facility uses woody biomass from mill residue, forestry waste, recycling and agricultural waste that is sourced within a 75-mile radius of the facility. In addition to its renewable electricity, it generates 425,000 pounds-per-hour of process steam.

Local Employment
The AGE facility has a staff of 25 people who monitor the distributed control system from a centralized control room and oversee fuel intake and processing, facility and equipment maintenance, administrative tasks and shift supervision.
System Information
The facility operates one Valmet circulating fluidized bed boiler, and one GE/Alstom condensing steam turbine with extraction, in addition to three truck dumping stations, a fuel yard including a rotary stacker/reclaimer, a fuel conveyor belt system, a cooling tower and an electrical switchyard.
AGE has a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply electricity to Georgia Power through 2037. It has two agreements to supply steam to nearby entities. It has a long-term agreement to provide steam to Procter & Gamble through 2037 and a 25-year agreement to provide steam to Constellation New Energy (CNE), which is used to generate electricity for the nearby Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) through 2041. AGE also operates the Siemens 8.5MW MCLB steam turbine-generator under contract to CNE.
AGE is a catalyst for sustainable economic growth in southwest Georgia and beyond, serving as an important end-market for residue from logging companies and mills and supporting hundreds of direct and indirect jobs.
